Interim Pastor Training

The Interim Pastor Training program is designed for Presbyterian Clergy(PCUSA) sensing a call to interim ministry and those inquiring about this ministry. Committee on Ministry members and presbytery staff members will also find this 5-day conference helpful.  This Presbyterian Interim Pastor Training course offers an excellent opportunity for leaders to hone skills such as how to say hello and goodbye in healthy ways, to help congregations heal and gain tools for understanding their congregation.

Training sessions at the conference include 30 hours of classroom instruction with plenty of time for personal attention.

Dates: January 22 – 26, 2018

 Interim Pastor Training Faculty

Dana Hughes is a presbyterian interim minister who has done more interims than she can shake a stick at, serving churches as interim head of staff, as solo pastor and as an associate.  She believes that interim ministry is both a calling and a logical choice, and she is dedicated to helping others explore their gifts for this very particular form of ministry.  Dana is also a writer working on a book of poetry, a graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, and a resident of Atlanta, where she shares her life with husband, Bill, and waaay too many pets.

Susan Haynes is a native of the Atlanta area and a lifelong Presbyterian.  She has been actively involved in many aspects of the life of the church as a Deacon, Ruling Elder, and now as a Teaching Elder.  Her main area of service to the church beyond the local congregation has been on the Committee on Ministry of two presbyteries, most recently as co-chair of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta’s Committee on Ministry.

Susan graduated from Georgia State University in 1980 (B.B.A) and graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in 2002 (M.Div.) Her experience in both the church and the business world has helped prepare her for her current calling as an interim pastor.
