PURPOSE OF POSITION

The purpose of this position is to carry out the work of the Camp and Conference Ministry Team of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, PC(USA) by designing, implementing and evaluating all equestrian programs of Calvin Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

The person in this position must be able to articulate a strong Christian faith, based in the Reformed Tradition. The person must possess skills and experience in

  • Working knowledge of equine management and care
  • Certified as an CHA-IRD Riding Instructor and Equine Facility Manager (NARHA Advanced)
  • Program development, execution and evaluation
  • Human resource recruitment, training and supervision as well as teaching skills
  • Personal relationship development and maintenance
  • Demonstrating initiative, leadership and creativity as a member of the Heads of Staff Team
  • A working knowledge in common computer applications

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work closely with the Program Director (PD) to evaluate the on-going needs of the Calvin Center program.
  2. Responsible for care of animals and herd management.
  3. Be responsible for the overall Equestrian Program (Therapeutic and Recreational).
    1. Develop, schedule, publicize, implement and resource the program.
    2. Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate all equestrian staff and volunteers.
    3. Further develop, update and improve equestrian operational manual and other resources.
  4. Provide programmatic resourcing and leadership to program participants and user groups.
  5. Coordinate evaluation and follow-up procedures for the scheduled programs.
  6. Assist the PD in developing and monitoring the equestrian program portion of the Calvin Center operating budget.
  7. Follow the personnel policies as listed in the staff manual.
  8. Work together with all Calvin Center staff for the welfare of all Calvin Center guests.
  9. Participate in staff meetings taking the initiative to suggest ideas, solutions, etc., to the PD and be willing to undertake additional duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY and EVALUATION

The person in this position shall be accountable to the Program Director, who will conduct an annual performance review with the Executive Director.
